It is with a heavy heart that we announce the final resting and burial ceremony of our beloved son, Late Navy Captain Caleb Omoniyi Olubolade (rtd) , which will take place on Saturday, August 9th, 2025. As we bid farewell to this great achiever, we take pride in celebrating his life, legacy, and numerous accomplishments.

Late Navy Captain Caleb Omoniyi Olubolade (rtd) was a shining star who touched countless lives through his selfless service, leadership, and dedication to excellence. His achievements and contributions will forever be remembered and cherished. Some of his notable positions and achievements include:

- Military Administrator of Bayelsa State: June 27, 1997 - July 9, 1998, appointed by General Sani Abacha's military government
- Federal Minister of Special Duties: April 6, 2010 - 2015, appointed by Acting President Goodluck Jonathan
- Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT): under President Goodluck Jonathan's administration
- Minister of Police Affairs: under President Goodluck Jonathan's administration

Additionally, Olubolade held other roles, including;
- Chairman of the Ekiti State Project Monitoring Committee: appointed by Governor Segun Oni
- Aspirant for Governor of Ekiti State: in the April 2007 elections under the Action Congress (AC) and later under the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in 2014
- He served with distinction in the Nigerian Navy, demonstrating exceptional leadership and professionalism.

- Community Development: He was a passionate advocate for community development, empowering individuals and promoting collective progress.
- Mentorship: He mentored many young people, sharing his wisdom, experience, and expertise to help them achieve their goals.

As we lay him to rest, we take comfort in the knowledge that his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. We will continue to celebrate his life, honor his memory, and draw inspiration from his remarkable achievements.

We invite all well-wishers, friends, family, and associates to join us as we pay our last respects to this great son of Ipoti Ekiti. Your presence will be a testament to the impact he had on our lives and the lives of others.

Tribute to Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade, RTD

Today, we are united in grief as we commit you to the earth. Your passing has left a deep void in the hearts of the people of Ipoti. We have mourned you with tears, with cries, and with a pain that words can hardly express. When the news of your death reached us, we prayed it was not true. We longed for one more chance to see you, one more opportunity to hear your voice.

Everywhere the people of Ipoti gather, your name is spoken. We remember your dedication, your generosity, and your tireless service to our community. Yet, we are reminded by the words of Ecclesiastes that there is a time to be born and a time to die. You lived your time fully, and you fulfilled your calling.

My first encounter with you was in 1979, when you returned from foreign training and brought your daughter, Yemisi, to my father—then the Headmaster of SDA Primary School, Ipoti—to enroll her. I was a young boy, but I remember your regular visits to my father. You would sit together, conversing in English—a language I barely understood at the time—yet I could sense your confidence and distinction.

Years later, I met you again in Mushin Market with my sister. We greeted you and Yemisi, introducing ourselves as the children of Elder I.A. Oke. Yemisi remembered us instantly because of our time together in SDA Primary School and church. Just a week after that meeting, it was announced that you had been appointed the Military Administrator of Bayelsa State.

That period remains unforgettable in the history of Ipoti. You brought influential figures to our town for a fundraising event, which gave us the Civic Centre that still stands today. You provided for families, supported our community, and brought federal attention to Ipoti in a way we had never experienced before.

In 2007, we worked closely during the State Assembly elections. You were deeply involved in my campaign and celebrated with me in victory. Throughout my tenure, you were ever-present—attending my programs, offering advice, and showing constant support. You also laid the foundation for the Police Station in Ipoti, my constituency project, and stood proudly at its commissioning.

What stands out most in my memory is that you lived with Ipoti in your heart every single day.

I had hoped you would be laid to rest here in your hometown so that every indigene could say a proper farewell to our beloved son and hero. Even though that did not happen, your name and deeds remain part of our community’s identity. You have joined the ranks of Lawyer J.O.B. Omotosho, Chief Oriade Wellington, Magistrate Olayomi, Col. Ayo Ariyo, Chief J.K. Adewunmi, and many others who dedicated their lives to the progress and development of Ipoti.

We are already making plans to celebrate your remarkable achievements in our town very soon.

Rest well, our beloved hero. Sleep peacefully, Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade.
